Landscape Design

Rodda and Sons often recommends that we begin your landscape project with a design drawn to scale. A design provides a master plan that helps both you, and the designer, and ultimately the installer, visualize the project and agree on the details. As your Seattle landscape designer, we feel that it’s important to listen to you, and work with you to develop a landscape plan that will not only fulfill your objectives, but create a beautiful outdoor environment. We choose plants and materials that perform well in our Seattle climate.  Our designs are drawn to scale, showing the names and locations of all plants and architectural features.

Our design fee is $60.00/hour. The design fee may include measuring the site and laying it out on paper to scale, rough sketch overlays of ideas, a final plan with all features and plants labeled, and a consultation to explain the design with pictures of suggested plants and materials.  A large project may need additional consultations at the rough sketch stage to get your reaction and feedback. We quote a design fee after we get a feel for the scope of your project on the initial visit.

Our designer has a degree in landscape design, and both she and our project manager have many years of experience working in the field and directing landscape crews.  This means that both have a practical construction and planting knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.

Rodda and Sons provides bids to install any or all phases of projects that we have designed and is happy to bid on projects designed by other designers and architects.

Winter is actually a great time to plant lawns, trees, shrubs and groundcovers. The plant material is usually dormant, so it doesn’t suffer as much transplant stress after installation. Fall and winter rains keep the root systems moist so that roots start to become established before the summer dry season.

Our main concern is that you are pleased with the results of our work, and that the landscaping enhances your outdoor living areas.
